Nowadays, Windsor is a lovely village with little more than a Main Street lined with pretty homes, a few businesses, a couple of churches and an art gallery. There’s not much within walking distance, but an easy drive will get you to Windsor’s charming downtown area, the trails in Windsor Town Forest, and the Historic Homes of Runnemede.įirst settled in 1764, Windsor quickly became an important trade and agricultural center, and by 1820 it was the state’s second largest town. You have to follow a narrow, winding road through thick forests to get there, but the end of the trip is pretty rewarding: The property boasts great views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Runnemede. We offer a private hickory-lined footpath to the beach, and the seasonal trolley has a stop located directly in front of the our Inn. We are 1/4 mile from the village center and 1/2 mile from the Main Beach.
